This was the best dining experience I have ever had. Though I am young and this was my first Michalen Star restaurant, I can without a doubt say that my dinner tonight was one of the best I have ever experienced. We were welcomed by the sweetest staff who set a permanent mood of friendliness. Christina, Ray, Sam, and in all honesty every single staff member that we saw provided excellent service and made sure that we had an amazing time. During our meal, our server Christina provided the best service I have ever recieved. Even though my group of 5 was filled with 18-20 years old, she treated us with such respect and was extremely patient with explaining the menu. The service alone was one of the best parts of the the entire experience. We had high expectations and oh my God, the food was significantly better than I could have ever expected. Every meal was art that I felt guilty eating. Every meal included flavor profiles I had never experienced before. Every meal made me sit back after the first bite and just think about the beautiful sensation I ate. My favorite courses (besides everything) was the Breakfast Taco, the Tuna, and the Basque Cheesecake. Not only did these dishes change my opinion about ingredients I previously disliked, but they blew me away with the unique combinations. With this being the first time at an extremely nice restaurant, we were nervous about the portions. However, by the time we finished our outstanding seven course meal, we felt perfectly full and were more than content with our meal. I have never eaten a better meal in my entire life and I am in no way trying to be dramatic. The food was fantastic and am upset that I won't be able to eat it for a long time. Although I'm not expert or NYC common foodie, I can tell you that this was one of the best experiences I have ever had. I am so grateful for the amazing night and I hope to return for another special occasion.
I was at 63 Clinton recently. Let me start by saying the one star is well deserved specially when it gets to food. The food is phenomenal. Like any other place there are ups and downs on the menu but you are in right hands. Food 5 out of 5: I think the magic was on some unusual pairings of flavors and texture. The sauces caught you by surprise at times a very pleasant one. I noticed specially on the white asparagus dish (that hole dish was a surprise). The dips for bread service specially the whipped tofu fall into same category. The main savory was beef and I liked it but I cannot say it was in same category as rest. In an unusual twist for me, maybe my most favorite was Basque Cheesecake (but I do have a sweet tooth). Finally the volume. You will be eating a lot!! I made the mistake of too much bread and on the huge final dessert I couldn't properly enjoy it. I was just too full. Service and Atmosphere 4/5 are also great but I think the food is the highlight. One suggestion: the sauces on the dishes are very elaborate and the explanation on them was so fast that I usually had to ask for repeats or just gave up and tried. It felt the explanation were a tad rushed. All in all, great food, and lovely atmosphere and staff. Finally kudos to bar staff. Very very friendly. I loved the place and food and will be back.
The service was decent and all the workers were nice! We enjoyed both of the mocktails - the blood orange especially was refreshing. With that said, the food was honestly pretty terrible and probably the worst we’ve ever had at a Michelin starred restaurant. Not sure if we came during a weird menu change or what. As we were finishing up the dessert, my husband was literally looking up past menus and photos to see what was served in the past, because we felt like we were being pranked. The asparagus dish and the breakfast taco were the best. The pate was inedible and so dry. Also our entire group left at least half of the finely dessert taco untouched. I love dessert and still only finished half of mine!!
Food 3/5 Service 3.5/5 Ambiance 4/5 After a glowing recommendation from the team at Atomix, Sixty Three Clinton had been at the top of my to-try list. We came to celebrate a friend’s birthday with the $130/pp tasting menu, but unfortunately, the experience felt more like a "miss" coming from a Michelin star place The Service Stumble: A major part of the menu involves hand-held dishes. I prefer using my own gloves for these, and while the waiter used tongs to clear my first pair, they were discarded without a word—right before the next course (a taco) arrived. It felt dismissive and made for an awkward transition into the rest of the meal. Tasting Menu Breakdown: Shima Aji (3.5/5): Light, crunchy, and refreshing, a solid start, but didn't blow me away The Breakfast Taco (4/5): The signature dish. Good, but the flavors didn’t quite "pop" as much as the hype suggested Green Asparagus (4/5): One of the highlights. The pairing with razor clams was savory and well-executed Le Boeuf (4.25/5): A strong three-part course. The meat was perfectly tender, though the cottage pie felt a bit "standard." Lamb Pate (1/5): The biggest disappointment. Dry, cold, and lacked the richness you'd expect from a core course The Sweets: The Basque Cheesecake (2.5/5) suffered from a spicy sorbet pairing that felt disjointed, while the Choco Taco (3/5) was a bit of a sugar bomb, despite a nice key lime touch. Final Verdict: > Usually, at this level, I expect flavors that dance. Here, the experience felt flat. Between the lackluster lamb and the service oversight, it’s hard to justify the price point when NYC has so many other intentional dining options Save your $130 for a spot with more consistent pop
A Friday night escape was truly made memorable with Sixty Three Clinton and the entire team. Had the pleasure of meeting both chefs, Sam and Ray who show passion not only in their dishes but the way they greet and interact with their patrons. From the moment you step into their place you feel like you’re at home with a wood burning fireplace awaiting you to get comfortable for a home cooked meal. From start to finishing the experience was elevated with each cuisine, friendly wait staff and the ambiance of the restaurant. Our server Simon was fabulous. Each dish was displayed with such passion and decor with flavor profiles that left me guessing what the ingredients of each dish may be. The caviar hand roll is a must try, the sourdough tortilla left a core memory from the time my grandmother made her version of the tortillas and the Muhammara spread was spot on. The Le Boeuf was the savory dish one needs on a cold night like tonight with a perfectly cooked meat over a wood burning oven. The dessert was on a different level where I had to ask for seconds- the cheesecake was delicious and the Choco Taco is a must have in all their menus. I will absolutely be back with my family to enjoy these delicious dishes and experience the wonderful cuisines of Chef Ray and Sam.
