La Lanterna di Vittorio was the perfect place for a relaxed and enjoyable lunch. From the moment we arrived, everything was simple, efficient, and welcoming, creating exactly the kind of atmosphere you hope to find in a great neighborhood Italian restaurant. The food was excellent. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and prepared with care, showcasing authentic Italian cuisine without trying to overcomplicate it. The quality of the ingredients really stood out, and each bite reflected the restaurant’s commitment to traditional flavors. One of the highlights was the service. It was fast, friendly, and efficient, allowing us to enjoy our meal without unnecessary waiting or excessive formality. Everything flowed naturally, making for a very pleasant dining experience. A special recommendation goes to the bruschetta—it was absolutely delicious and a perfect way to start the meal. Fresh, beautifully balanced, and full of flavor, it’s definitely something you shouldn’t miss when visiting. Overall, La Lanterna di Vittorio offers exactly what a great Italian restaurant should: delicious food, prompt and attentive service, a warm atmosphere, and an experience that feels genuine rather than overly complicated. I would happily return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an excellent lunch in New York.

This place is GORGEOUS! Such a beautiful and cozy spot - perfect for date night, solo dining or with just a couple of people. Went recently with a friend and we fell IN LOVE with the place. Unfortunately the Garden sitting area in the back was packed that night (the main floor dining area on the other hand was not packed). We did sit at a corner spot which gave us a glimpse into the garden area. I literally felt like I was in some Italian restaurant. Loved the overall ambience. The food was good...I docked it one star because although we ordered one of their most popular items (the classic lasagna-pictured) we noticed that the lasagna was more cheese than pasta making it excessively greasy. Literally tasted like we were eating baked cheese with meat. Drinks on the other hand were delicious.

(Nov 6, 2025) I was introduced to this restaurant when I went here with my friends who were looking for a "good dinner" in their NYC visit. I am glad I didn't alter their plan with a different suggestion of my own. This restaurant has cozy interiors, dim-lit décor, friendly and helpful waiters, delicious hot cheesy food. My friend and I shared a Pesto-based minestrone soup---mild, watery, not salty, had nice starchy vegetables. I would've had the sweet potato soup if it didn't have chicken stock, I wish they keep a vegan version of it. Then, we had the vegetarian 'flight lasagna', a combo of 4 cups of different lasagna. They also had non-vegetarian variants to it, and I guess it's a very popular item as almost all tables had the `flight lasagna'. We enjoyed all the four flavours. Lasagna 1 -- Four cheese -- Couldn't tell apart the cheeses, all of it was white and fatty. Lasagna 2 -- Mushroom -- The burn (brown char) on the top lasagna sheet or some added chilli-infused oil gave a spicy (காரம்) and tantalizing taste. Lasagna 3 -- Arrabiatta -- It is spicy-hot (காரம்) more than it is tomato-tangy. Lasagna 4 -- Pesto -- Good. I took a bite out of the arrabiatta gluten-free pizza that another friend had ordered. The crust was not good, felt more like a biscuit (brick) than a bread. The topping was very similar to the flavour of the corresponding lasagna that I had. We spent about $30 per person + tips.

Large menu, delicious pizza, pasta, cheese, etc. Ordered a margarita which was average. Liked the tiramisu. Service was attentive, I think there was a bit of a language barrier. The lasagna is so rich and tasty. We were seated in the back patio which was really cute and a nice setting for a work dinner or really any occasion.

La Lanterna di Vittorio was an amazing choice for a Valentine’s Day dinner, and I was highly impressed from the moment we walked in all the way through dessert. The atmosphere is incredibly charming and intimate, especially with the cozy, unique layout that makes it feel like a hidden gem in the West Village. It’s definitely on the smaller side, which adds to the experience, but I highly recommend making reservations ahead of time because it fills up quickly—especially on special occasions. The food was outstanding. You absolutely have to get the lasagna—it was one of the highlights of the night. The portions were very filling, and the flavors were rich, authentic, and clearly made with care. Everything tasted fresh and homemade, and there were so many great options on the menu that it was tough to choose. The tiramisu dessert was also highly recommended by the staff, and they were 100% right. It was the perfect way to end the meal—light, flavorful, and easily one of the better tiramisus I’ve had. The staff was fantastic as well—friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience feel special without being overbearing. Overall, this place exceeded expectations in every way. I would absolutely recommend it for a date night or special occasion and would gladly come back again.
