The Ultimate Roman Street Food Experience ★★★★★ Trapizzino in the LES is hands-down one of the best quick-casual eats in the city If you've never had a trapizzino, imagine a thick, crispy triangular pocket of pizza bread stuffed to the brim with rich, slow-braised classic Roman dishes. The Chicken Cacciatore and Braised Oxtail pockets are absolute perfection crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and bursting with flavor. Pair it with a few of their crispy suppli (rice balls) and an Italian craft beer, and you’re in street food heaven.

The staff was friendly and welcoming, but unfortunately the food was disappointing. I ordered the ragù pasta, and several pieces were clumped together and completely inedible. The pasta that wasn’t clumped was still hard, see photo. I ate as much as I could because I didn’t want to be the person sending a dish back while everyone else at the table was eating. On a positive note, the Trapizzino bread was cooked well and was enjoyable. The restaurant also has a relaxed, chill atmosphere that I liked. Overall, I really wanted to enjoy the meal, but I wish the pasta had been prepared properly. Better execution in the kitchen would have made for a much better experience.

This place was actually Plan C, since Plan A and Plan B would both require 1hr+ wait. The city don't joke around with brunch... anyways we walked in after seeing street sign advertising their "Pizzas", so it turned out to be NOT what we expected but that's cool too. They feature two things - the Trapizzini is a triangle bread with filling and the Suppli is a fried risotto ball - each with a variety of flavor options. These bread pockets were soft but firm (also the ideal mattress), buttered up and perfectly designed for this purpose in life. The red sauce of the oxtail or white sauce of the chicken, or whatever other option you choose, dribbles down into all the crevices like lava in a cave, spreading the flavor to all corners and all bites. They look small and harmless, but even one is filling enough for a full meal. The croquette-like snack was equally as innovative. The outside is strong and sturdy (not mushy like most things of that shape & size) with just the right amount of crunch. The inside, much softer but also sturdy, flavor blast of classic cheese and meats, but made of mostly rice. Also filling in itself. Lots of good flavors and taste experiments to try, although definitely carb heavy. Almost like savory ice cream cones... very enjoyable.

Very authentic tasting food, very pleasant and efficient service, reasonable prices. I had the Suppli classico, braised beef/Ethiopian spices trapizzino, Casale del Giglio wine and Olive oil cake.

Food was okay, service was great! Would recommend getting a few things to share. The handhelds were more of a novelty item than something I’d come back for, but they make a great Hugo spritz!
