Came here for a girls brunch, and Helena took such great care of us! She kept pouring them bottomless drinks! The food could’ve been better, though. I ordered the Essex burger medium but it came out more as medium rare.
Brunch here is fantastic. The waiters are very attentive with filling up your bottom less brunch cocktails immediately. The portions here are also great. Helena was our waitress and answered all our questions. Will definitely come back here.
We ordered the wagyu steak for an appetizer. It was raw so I can't say how it was cooked. But the flavor was good and the break that went along with it was fresh. We also ordered the filet wagyu with mashed potatoes. Steak wonderful, potatoes tasty and fluffy. Everything had a lot of flavor. The service was wonderful as well.
I was pretty surprised by how positive the reviews were for this spot given that it has both a bottomless brunch and prix fixe menu (I feel like both of those often draw a lot of ire), but after coming here I understood the hype. We did the bottomless brunch and got a whole assortment of items off the brunch menu. I don’t think anyone got something they didn’t throughly enjoy. Fun fact: the bread they serve the table is picked up from a bakery every morning according to our waitress (we asked for extra and they had to check if they had enough). Personally I got the 3 eggs anyway which is simple but they actually did a phenomenal job with the turkey bacon—I feel like that’s a tough one that usually comes out either undercooked or overcooked but it was on point (slightly crispy, but not burnt). I also had half of their Challah French Toast, which was very good. Finally, on the bottomless aspect: they have the greatest variety of drink choices of any other NYC bottomless brunch spot I could find, and you can tell (while they do batch some of them), it’s all very tasty. I definitely enjoyed the spritz the most (and the screwdriver the least). Great for all party sizes, and very cost effective. Can’t recommend enough!
We ordered the Mezze (hummus, tzatziki & feta-garlic spread), Essex Kofta Meatballs, Seared Dayboat Scallops, Roasted Baby Heirloom Carrots, and the Purple Rose Martinis (not pictured). Unfortunately, all of the food was served cold. The meatballs and scallops were sent back to be reheated, but when returned they were only slightly warm. The scallops themselves were flavorful and delicious, and the chilled carrots were decent. There was also a mix-up with my mezze selection. I did not order the feta-garlic spread, I selected olives as my third option. The order was corrected, which I appreciated. Overall, price for quality, it just wasn’t to my taste, and I wouldn’t recommend it.
