I rarely write Google reviews, but our waiter/server Alex deserves one. The food was good, but honestly the service is what stood out. The restaurant was packed, and as far as I could tell Alex was the only server. He was also the one who greeted and seated us, so I genuinely don’t know how he kept up with everything. He was also super attentive. At the beginning of dinner he overheard me and my friends catching up and wishing one of our friends a happy belated birthday. At the end of the meal, he then came over and said, “I heard we have a birthday in the house!” and gave us a birthday celebration. Such a small thing, but it made us smile and showed how attentive he was even running around taking care of everyone. He was so friendly and never made us feel rushed even though he had a full restaurant to take care of. Alex made our night and Mi Garba is lucky to have him. Thank you!
Went this past Saturday night. The staff was gracious and friendly. I think the owner may have been the server. The Suppli was just a delicious, well balanced bite. However, the rigatoni carbonara may have been one of the best Italian dishes I've had in my life. The combination of the guanicale and the flavorful sauce made it memorable. The only slight negative was the acoustics of the room make it a bit loud from customer noise. The background music was at just the right level and not an issue. Lovely place in all and holds its own in the neighborhood.
I had SUCH a lovely time at MiGarba. Went on a Saturday night, solo, and was able to sit at the counter. I loved that it wasn't a total scene but was also EXCELLENT food - an extreme rarity downtown in the city. I didn't realize it while dining, but Pier, the owner, served me. He was so so welcoming and nice and just made the experience so lovely, which was very important to me as a solo diner. I ordered a glass of wine, the lamb meatballs, the spinach side, and the spicy rigatoni - *huge chefs kiss* to all of those items. Seriously loved it and will be back. The spicy rigatoni was unlike any other I've ever had, which is extremely hard to do because it's on everyones menu. The spinach just was so flavorful and both indulgent but light. The lamb meatballs had so much flavor and I could tell that the cheese they shaved on top of it was extremely high quality.
Mi piace MiGarba. Sure, at first glance, it looks like you're typical tiny, cramped, squeezed-like-sardines Italian restaurant in a neighborhood over-saturated with tiny, cramped, squeezed-like-sardines Italian restaurants. But look closer and....it's still just that. What they lack in space, they make up with charm. But, like, charm like a Metallica concert. It loud inside. We shared the hearty Agnolotti di Lucia, Lobster Ravioli and Gemelli al Ragu. Of the three, I'd give the Lobster Ravioli a pass--it was more expensive than the other two, yet arrived lukewarm and tasted...flat. The other two though--eccellente. Throw in some Sautéed Brussel Sprouts because you haven't had veggies in a while, and the tasty Superga cocktail (chamomile-infused rye, fuji apple, cinnamon, pineapple juice, and lime juice, and you have the perfect dinner for a frigid school night. Sure, I was practically sitting on my neighbor's lap throughout dinner, but the staff made up for it with tall glasses of complimentary limoncello (which they claimed was for the initial wait). Saluti!
I had to swap my OpenTable last minute and they were so kind to help me shift it / I appreciate the customer centricity. Definitely get the eggplant app. Cute ambiance for weekday upscale but not too fancy!
