This visit left me let down — the place has been my neighborhood benchmark for a long time, and this meal fell short of it. It’s also gotten too crowded these days, and the room doesn’t feel as pleasant as it used to. The steak was the problem: it tasted as though it had been thawed right before hitting the pan, thin and watery, nowhere near the version I remember. My wife’s pasta held up fine, and at least the fries were ok

Recently celebrated my birthday here. A perfect round table for six. Parisian ambiance, energetic atmosphere, and traditional bistro fare like steak frites, moules frites, gem Caesar and chocolate flourless cake. The Parisian vibes include red leather banquettes, antique mirrors, and Art Deco fixtures with dim golden light creating an intimate setting. Food was delicious and our server beyond excellent.

We stopped by before attending a performance at the American Ballet Theatre. The restaurant has a charming atmosphere that reminded me of a Parisian café. Our server thoughtfully asked if we were attending a show and what time we needed to leave, making sure our meal would fit our schedule. I really appreciated that level of attentiveness—it felt like the kind of hospitality you hope to find in New York. The French onion soup was slightly sweet and, without a doubt, my favorite I’ve ever had. The sweet corn ravioli was also outstanding. The silky pasta, the natural sweetness of the corn, and the aroma of truffle created a unique combination that completely surprised me in the best way. The mussels were perfectly seasoned and delicious as well. There was one unfortunate accident when our server accidentally spilled a drink on my husband’s shoes and slacks, as well as the hem of my dress. However, the staff handled the situation professionally and sincerely, so it never became a negative memory. We truly appreciated how they took care of everything. Unfortunately, we didn’t have enough time to try dessert before the performance, so we’ll have to come back for it next time. We look forward to visiting again the next time we’re in New York.

Went here for dinner after a day at the natural history museum. Bustling vibe, crowded, approximately 2/3 male clientele at the dinner hour. Hostess & manager worked together to seat us with no waiting, even though we had no reservation 🙏🏻. Standouts were the Luxemburger (get it? 😂) with bacon and Gruyère cheese, and a martini made with French gin. I didn’t quite catch the name when the waiter told me, Le Plume maybe? But it was good! The French fries were average, a bit soggy. The steak tartare was good quality beef but lacking flavor, needed some capers or something similar to jazz it up. The mushroom soup was serviceable, not magical. Solid place overall.

Have always wanted to go here but it’s a bit of a trek, then was reminded of it by watching Love Story. JFK Jr. liked to go here. I can see why. Place is very busy but the service is impeccable. The food is bistro style, and pretty good though not probably worth going back. The peanut butter ice cream special they had though was some of the best ice cream I’ve had so maybe that will pull me back in! Definitely glad I stopped in, I will recommend going here to people for sure. I’d stop back in when I’m in the neighborhood, but probably won’t travel a half hour on the subway just to go there.
