A true hidden gem! We chose to sit outside, and it made for such a wonderful dining experience. The atmosphere was charming, relaxing, and perfect for enjoying a great meal. The service was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious, with every dish beautifully prepared and full of authentic French flavor. If you’re looking for a cozy French restaurant with amazing food, excellent service, and a lovely outdoor setting, this place is a must-visit. We can’t wait to come back!
Recette has such a great atmosphere—warm, lively, and just the right balance between relaxed and upscale. It’s the kind of place where you instantly feel comfortable but still feel like you’re somewhere special. The cocktails were exceptional, all perfectly balanced and thoughtfully crafted. The food is outstanding: rich, comforting plates executed with precision and real care. Standouts included the Mixed Mushroom Truffle Gnocchi, perfectly seared steak with vibrant charred broccolini, and that stunning rosemary-garnished berry cocktail that hits every note—refreshing, balanced, and dangerously drinkable. Capped off with a textbook Creme Brulee, crackly torched top and all, dotted with fresh strawberries and blueberries for a playful twist. Service is warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming—nothing feels rushed or scripted. The atmosphere strikes that ideal balance: cozy yet lively, perfect for a date, catch-up with friends, or solo treat. If you’re craving elevated French comfort food without pretension, Recette delivers every single time. Easily a repeat favorite—highly recommend.

It’s a tiny, unassuming spot with maybe 16 seats, but the food coming out of that kitchen rivals some of the most expensive high-end French restaurants in the city. THE VIBE: Intimate, focused, and unpretentious. Airy and bright, it feels more like you’re being entertained by friends. It’s the perfect place for a quiet, high-quality meal where the food is the main character. Pro tip: With a few tables inside, definitely make a reservation. That said, there’s a patio. THE DRINKS: The Brooklyn Desire and the Rising Sun both hit that sweet spot — fruity, refreshing, and the kind of cocktails that make you feel like you're on vacation rather than on Havemeyer Street. THE FOOD: We ordered across the menu — classics and beyond. Not a single miss. - Escargots: A must-start. Perfectly buttery and garlicky. When I went, you could choose between white or red wine. - French Onion Soup: My friend had this, and it looked exactly like the deep, cheesy comfort you want from a French bistro. - Grilled Branzino: My entree was impeccable—fresh, perfectly grilled, and light enough to save room for dessert. - Braised Short Rib Cavatelli: Rich, tender, and the kind of "hug-in-a-bowl" dish that feels like a masterclass in French technique. - Chocolate Lava Cake: We shared this for the finish, and it was the perfect, decadent end-note. Went for the valentines day prefixe menu. Delicious filet mignon. Lobster tail meat didnt easily fully come off as there was still meat that stuck on. Delicious food and the space was small but they fit in a lot of couples. Highly recommend for a nice brooklyn vibe for french date spot. Book way in advance for holidays!
