A lobster roll is not something I eat every day, so when visiting New York I wanted to make sure that I found a decent one to try. With multiple locations around Manhattan, Luke's Lobster popped up as one of the go-to places. I ordered a 6oz lobster roll, which comes with a complementary bag of potato chips (slightly weird) and a can of soda. A thick slice of toast bread made for the bun. It was served upright, buttered and toasted on both sides, and cut open on top. The bread was soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside and tasted slightly sweet. Inside, the lobster meat with only a small amount of mayo and very subtle "secret" seasoning. The condiments did not dominate at all and were in perfect balance with the meaty, juicy lobster. People often mention in their reviews that, despite the high price, this roll is not a premium product, they get inferior cuts of the lobster, or the location is not fancy enough. I disagree. Sure, at $39 for 6oz it is not cheap, but the product they deliver is fresh, delicate and full of flavor. Highly recommended!
Stopped by Luke’s Lobster in FiDi on South William St and the food itself was good. The lobster was fresh, well seasoned, and you can tell the quality is there. Served with a pickle on the side which was a nice classic touch. That said, the value didn’t quite match the price. For what you pay, the portion felt a little small. It’s a solid lobster roll but you’re paying a premium and the quantity doesn’t always feel like it matches the cost. Worth knowing going in so you can set your expectations accordingly. If you’re craving lobster in the Financial District and don’t mind paying for quality over quantity, Luke’s Lobster delivers a good product. Just go in knowing it’s more about the experience and taste than getting a hearty filling portion for the price. Good lobster roll, just budget accordingly.
Got the lobster flight, lobster roll with three differnet sauces, but to be perfectly honest, they taste the same to me. Maybe some more extra sauce can help distinguish each other. The chilled lobster roll was alright but I think having it warm might taste slightly better.
I really liked this concept. Food was fresh and tasty. Service was quick and kind. There's not too much variety on the menu but I do think this is the best thing a restaurant should have. Less is more, especially about quality.
Came at 4pm on a Saturday, ordered the basic (small) Luke’s lobster sandwich. The bread was yummy although wish it was toasted, the lobster meat was ok a lot more legs than meat if that makes sense. The worker forgot my chips but I left before I realized, it’s fine. I would come back if I had a hankering for lobster, but i probably wouldn’t come here regularly, $30 for a small snack is a bit expensive.
