FREVO is our favorite Michelin starred restaurant in NYC. We’ve been to plenty Michelin restaurants, and FREVO is by far our favorite. We’ve dined here twice and will definitely be back, especially since the menu changes seasonally. Chef Franco Sampogna is incredibly talented and genuinely humble. We had the pleasure of chatting with him, which made the experience even more memorable. Please keep honeycomb and carrot dish in your menu forever 😅
Absolutely lived up to the hype. Outstanding food, spot-on wine pairings, and warm, attentive service throughout the evening. I’ve dined here before, and the consistency is what continues to impress me. Every visit has been exceptional. A fantastic experience from start to finish!
Had an incredible experience at FREVO. The hidden art entrance gives it a true speakeasy feel, and the intimate setting makes the entire evening feel personal and exclusive. Each course was creative, beautifully presented, and full of unique flavors. One of the best parts was the interaction with the chefs, it felt like a personalized dining experience rather than a traditional restaurant meal. The attention to detail, atmosphere, and pacing of the tasting menu made for a really memorable night. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a special, luxurious, elegant dining experience in NYC.
First off, I'd like to say that I really enjoyed the concept of this restaurant within an art gallery. The staff was excellent and it was very cozy inside, although a bit chilly. The courses were fine to me personally, but unfortunately for the price point that this particular tasting menu was, fine doesn't cut it. I found the first course to be the best. The sweet nori had a spectacular crunch to it with a non-offensive kick coming from the shishito peppers. Unfortunately, that was the high point for me. The truffle artichoke donut was bland, as was the 36-month comte cheese dish. I wasn't a fan of focaccia bread being a course, especially at that price point. I did appreciate the execution of the sea bass dish and how it incorporated the art, the pork dish was delicious, as was the Norwegian king crab supplement. I'm not sure how often Frevo changes their course, but this tasting menu overall was a miss for me.
I was a bit hesitant since there weren’t many Korean reviews, but it ended up being way better than I expected! The meal being inspired by the current exhibition was a cool idea connecting art and food. *The experience felt a little rushed and the space was pretty loud and chaotic compared to other fine dining spots The first course, Sweet Nori, was served as a hand roll with shima aji and trout roe. It was a great start and had a really nice umami flavor. One of the most surprising dishes for me was the Butternut Squash course. It had parmesan, truffle, curry, and even ice cream. It sounded like a strange combination, but somehow it worked really well together. The Pretzel with smoked tofu and bottarga was also unexpectedly good; simple but very memorable. The Bluefin tuna came with a pineapple sauce and kombu, which added a refreshing balance to the dish. The sea bass was very delicate but personally it felt a little too mushy But the real highlight of the meal was the dessert. The combination of 36 month Comté cheese, honey, and ice cream was amazing. I honestly didn’t expect cheese and ice cream to work so well together, but it ended up being one of the best desserts I’ve had at a restaurant!
