This is my third visit to the four horseman and every single visit they never fail to deliver! I did not have reservation but I got there at 4.45pm and was second in line. Got seated about an hour later which I think isn’t too bad! Came for their early spring menu in April. I’ve always been a big fan of their risottos and this seafood risotto was absolute perfection. They also have a great selection on wines so don’t skip on that! Immaculate vibes, food and drinks. Definitely not an overhyped restaurant and worth the visit. I will be back!!
Got there 1.5h early on a Friday to get a walk-in and was the first person in line for the waitlist and first to get seated. Exact timing: arrived at 4pm, waitlist opened at 5pm, and got seated at 5:30pm. Managed to get an actual table for my walk-in instead of getting seated at the bar like I noticed other walk-ins after me were. Came here as vegetarians and was a little unsure if we'd have enough food to eat as it's a rotating menu, and we were pleasantly surprised by the options. They kindly labeled which ones vegetarian for us and ordered all of them. About 5 dishes shared among 2 of us. Every dish was excellent! So much flavor, perfectly balanced, filling by the end. They let you keep the menu at the end too, which is a nice keepsake. This place has a Michelin star yet doesn't feel pretentious. Casual even. You can come dressed as you are. The music was great, and it's cool how it was started by LCD Soundsystem, a New York band we love!
They made us wait some time for our table but gave us each a complimentary glass of wine to makeup for it. I remember the food being alot better to be honest.. don’t get me wrong, it was good, but I wasn’t as impressed as I used to get with their dishes.. We got the bred and oeuf mayonnaise to start.. arguably the tastiest thing on the menu. Yellowfin tuna was simple but tasty. Chilled red shrimps were fresh but nothing special. Lamb shank was a special of the night and was good but wasn’t a fan of the style / accompaniment it came with. Seafood rice wasn’t a favorite for any of us. For dessert, we got the sticky toffee cake (a must!) and the millefeuille (was okay but didn’t stand a chance next to the sticky toffee).
Outstanding Michelin starred restaurant. Great service and even better food. Recommend getting there at 4:45 if you’re trying to make the waiting list for the bar. That should put you in the top five people if you are trying to get in at open. I went on a very nice day. 75° out and it’s like the first or second true spring day in Brooklyn. So maybe more people were trying to get out and we were willing to stay online. But that’s the time I would stay online for. I had the fried spearing which was unique and great. I prefer to try things that I can’t make it home or I’ve never had. So that’s why I chose that. I also had the ibérico pork collar with roasted cabbage, madeira. The pork was absolutely stellar.
My husband and I came here on a Friday for brunch and we were served by Monet. It was our first time here and she guided us on the right amount of food to typically have to benefit our hunger. She did inform us that the plates had small portions so 4 different plates would be ideal. We got 5 since Monet saw that we were missing some veggies and I am very happy with the choices we made. Bluefin tuna + gnocco fritto, sea scallop + leek custard, winter chicories, soft-boiled egg + blue crab, ibérico pork collar, and a wonderful maple syrup sesame custard for dessert. The food was so fresh like eating from a garden or fresh farm. There was a lot of citruis flavors in the dishes and a lot of cheese or custard but it went very well. Though the plates were small we were both full and very much satisfied with almost every dish. I was not a big fan of the pork collar to fatty for my taste but my husband liked it. The dessert was so creamy and the combination of sesame and maple was absolutely amazing. We ended the day with dessert and tea and we were grateful for the experience. We would definitely love to come back hopefully to experience dinner.
