Bungalow in NYC is definitely a place I would recommend for the food. We tried the Anarkali Chicken, Chicken Biryani with Raita, Nilgiri Tandoori Prawns, and the Molten Chocolate Cake with Gulab Jamun ice cream. The Anarkali Chicken was absolutely amazing—full of flavor, perfectly cooked, and one of the standout dishes of the meal. The Nilgiri Tandoori Prawns were equally impressive, with a beautiful smoky flavor and great texture. The Chicken Biryani paired with the raita was also incredibly good, aromatic, and very satisfying. And for dessert, the Molten Chocolate Cake with Gulab Jamun ice cream was a fantastic combination and the perfect ending to the meal. The only reason I’m not giving a full 5 stars is the service. While the food was outstanding, the overall experience felt a bit rushed, and at times it seemed like some staff members came across as somewhat dismissive or as if they were looking down on guests. It took away from what could have been a perfect dining experience. If you’re going for exceptional Indian food with creative desserts, Bungalow is absolutely worth visiting. I just hope the service becomes as memorable as the food.
Posting a late review from our visit in April, but this dining experience was too special not to share! Bungalow truly exceeded our expectations. Every dish was beautifully presented, thoughtfully prepared, and packed with incredible flavors. Some absolute must-tries are the Yogurt Kebabs, Paneer Lazeez, Daal Bungalow, Farmer’s Sattu Roti, Spice Roasted Pineapple, and the Mango Three-Way Dessert. Each dish had its own unique character, and together they made for an unforgettable meal. What made the evening even more memorable was having the privilege of meeting Chef Vikas Khanna. It was an honor to meet him during such an exciting time, around his recognition with the TIME100. He was warm, humble, and gracious, making the experience even more special. From the outstanding food and impeccable service to the elegant ambiance, Bungalow delivers a world-class dining experience. If you’re in New York City and appreciate exceptional Indian cuisine, this restaurant is an absolute must-visit. We can’t wait to return!
After watching so many Instagram reels and hearing countless great things about Bungalow, I was genuinely excited to dine here. I was only in NYC for one night and happily waited two hours for a seat at the bar because I thought it would be worth it. The highlight of my evening was meeting Chef Vikas Khanna. He is incredibly kind, humble, and takes the time to greet every guest with genuine warmth. It was a pleasure meeting him in person. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the hype. The Dal Bungalow was overly salty, the much-talked-about dahi kebabs were served cold and felt underwhelming, and the pineapple with yellow curry was thick and also served cold. The Paneer Lazeez was decent but not particularly memorable. For me, great food should not only be flavorful but also served piping hot. I expected much more from a restaurant led by Chef Vikas Khanna, especially given its reputation. I've had the opportunity to dine at Rania in DC, and I found the food there to be far more flavorful and memorable. Fine dining doesn't have to sacrifice bold flavors or proper serving temperature. I truly hope Bungalow improves the consistency of its food and ensures dishes are served hot because the hospitality and overall atmosphere deserve a menu that matches the expectations.
hospitality, decor, and vibes are all a 10/10 here and vikas khanna is so warm and friendly. he really created such a beautiful restaurant and it shows in every detail. the food for me was hit or miss- the dishes were different and modern while incorporating traditional flavors which i appreciated, but i didn’t find the entrees to be extraordinary. the yogurt kebab was my favorite and the mango 3 ways was delish for dessert. would recommend to celebrate something here bc they bring a free dessert and he comes to your table to give it too which is so nice. worth experiencing once but its insane how hard it is to get a table here.
We recently visited Bungalow to celebrate our anniversary, and overall it was a lovely experience. The ambiance is beautiful and perfect for a special occasion. We really enjoyed the vibe of the place—it feels elegant but still warm and welcoming. For drinks, we tried the Guava Lemonade and a Falsa mocktail (I don’t remember the exact name), and both were refreshing and delicious. For appetizers, we ordered the Dahi Kebab and Achari Stuffed Panner. Dahi Kebab was absolutely amazing—definitely one of our favorite dishes of the evening. For the main course, we had the Okra dish and Old Delhi Chole. We really liked the okra—it was flavorful and well prepared. However, the chole was just okay and didn’t stand out as much as we expected. For dessert, we tried the Rose Kulfi. If you are a big fan of rose flavor, you’ll probably enjoy it. For us, it was good for a one-time try. One small detail that made the experience special was the little candy in a red packet at the end. It instantly reminded me of my childhood, which was such a sweet nostalgic touch. Overall, it’s good to visit Bungalow at least once for the experience.
