Each bar is accessed through discreet entrances such as vault doors with codes or alleyways with multiple unmarked doors. Some establishments even serve drinks in teacups, replicating how patrons avoided detection during 1920s police raids. The décor and atmosphere have been featured on the TV show Boardwalk Empire for historical accuracy.
