Manhattan Bowery Lodge

Budget friendly hostel. Initially impressions walking up the stairs was a little meh, but once in the hostel I was happily surprised. Staff there were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were small and suitable for 1 or 2 people(with minimal luggage). The hostel was a little dated but for the price and location it's hard to beat. I saw staff cleaning bathrooms frequently. Quite and easy to get a good night sleep. Lots of extra towels and blankets if needed. It's a place to lay your head at night and then hit the city first thing in the morning. I would stay here again.
This is budgeted hotel, location is good as accessible to manhattan, time square and other attractions via train service and bowery station is just 10 minutes of walking distance. Comparatively, the market is surrounding is cheaper than other locations closed to TS. Overall this is nice place with lower budget room. Good for single, couples.
Great value for the price! Would absolutely stay here again. Appreciate the location. It had water to refill bottles, community fridge, the private bathroom had shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The only downside was that it would use a good clean, like the dust bunnies in the corners of everything. And you have to walk up a bunch of stairs to get to the “lobby”.
Best deal in NYC! If you want to save money, stay here. Great location close to public transport and the best food. Employees are friendly and helpful, bad reviews seem to be from people who don’t understand cultural differences or language barriers (or what a hostel entails). Rooms are small, but if you just need a place to rest, they will suffice. Plenty of bathrooms, never had to wait. I’m a light sleeper, brought ear plugs and slept fine. There is a communal fridge as well.
I think some of the reviews here are a bit harsh. When we booked, this was literally the cheapest accommodation for a couple in Manhattan. Yes, the rooms are small and windowless, and there’s a bit of noise, but once you turn on the fan (which you’ll want to anyway) it mostly fades into the background. The location is excellent – really convenient for getting around Manhattan and Brooklyn on the subway. Staff were friendly and helpful, and there were enough bathrooms that we rarely had to wait for a shower. Fresh towels are always available, and they even provide slippers/flip flops for walking around. There’s also free coffee, plus a kettle and microwave for guests. Overall, it’s basic but great value for the price and location.
