Orchard Street Hotel

Don't have any flight delays if you plan to stay here, they don't care and will not extend any empathy to your situation, nor any customer service whatsoever. My flight was delayed hour by hour from 11:20am to 12am midnight before it was ultimately cancelled, giving me no time to cancel as I kept expecting to make it to the city by end of day. Orchard Street Hotel staff heard me crying on the phone, desperately asking for my money back because I'd effectively wasted $800 on a reservation I could absolutely not make anymore through no fault of my own, and they refused. I booked through Expedia, and they keep telling me to talk to Expedia regarding the refund, and I did twice. Expedia sent an email as well as called on my behalf, and the hotel refused the refund to them as well, because it is the HOTEL's choosing, NOT Expedia. I got the hotel's email, sent over proof of every flight change and ultimately late night cancellation, and they didn't care. Every single time I called, I was told there was no manager or supervisor available to issue a refund, and they'd be in at 9am the next day. It feels like they're being purposely obtuse, and trying to make it frustrating so I would ultimately give up and let them steal from me. I can't afford to lose $800 and communicated that several times, and no one cared. Based on other reviews, it seems the quality of the rooms is mediocre, so I'd save yourself the hassle and not let this business steal your money should an issue arise.
3 star hotel with a 5 star view. I am a Marriot loyalist so it’s been awhile since I have stayed in a 3 star. However a group I was traveling with was staying here so I went along. I booked a Queen City view and I will say I was pleasantly surprised of the size of the room - especially for New York. However it had been a minute since I had stayed in a 3 star hotel so I had to adjust expectations. Pros - spacious room, bed was comfy and clean, location was great for the Lower East side, the views out the window was great with tons of light. Cons - Hallway noise could be heard thru the doors, the furniture is very dated (wood chipping, seams breaking on benches etc), my night latch on the door was missing which made me feel uneasy as a single traveler in my room, the bathroom floor was dirty with lots of short dark hair on the floor that was not mine, as someone previously mentioned there is no bedside lamp which kind of is annoying, also the car service they use to go to the airport is VERY expensive - I paid half of what the car service was charging in a cab when I left in the morning.
