Heidi's House by the Side of the Road & Ed's Elbow Room

Made a reservation for 2 on the morning/day (a Friday) of via their website, and got an email confirmation around noon. The place is small but they have overflow seating at their sister restaurant next door which has almost the same interior. They accept walk-ins too. Note: they only have wine, beer, and non-alcoholic drinks. Ordered the mac n cheese, paella, and hamburger/fries for two people, and we ate almost all of it! Paella was loaded with seafood/meat and worth it (it does seem pricey knowing the serving is for one person). There was a small piece of lobster and those bites was incredible. Restaurant vibes were casual. It was dim with good music. I’m glad I finally got to check out my restaurant (thanks Syd!!)
A friend recommended and it exceeded my lofty expectations. A smaller menu where everything is clearly well thought out and executed to perfection.
Very cool little spot on the upper east side with a creative menu and great service. I don't usually start with service, but our server, Jake, was superb --- he should be in the service hall of fame! Friendly, helpful, funny, but yet not intrusive. Heidi's food is creative and delicious. We had the Bruschetta with Heiloom Tomatoes and Mozzarella (photo) as an appetizer. For our entree we opted for the special Gnocchi with Mushrooms. Great!! (Photo). We will be back . . . again ans again as long as Jake is working that night.
