Holiday Inn Brooklyn Downtown by IHG
New York
Recenzje
I was very disappointed with my stay. I usually bring my own cleaning products when I travel, thank God I did. The bathroom shower wasn't throughly cleaned. Someone's hair was still on the shower walls. The rugs didn't look like it had been vacuumed. And we requested from the front desk 2x for and extra blanket that NEVER arrived! Smh, not good. I've stayed at hotels that were less fancy but at least they were responsive to guests requests and the bathrooms were clean. Another issue is the lack of complimentary breakfast. You're spending a decent amount of money and they don't provide at least breakfast. I mean at least have breakfast for Diamond Elite members. Other places provide complimentary breakfast. The final issue is that they lack large luggage carts. They provide a very small cart that requires several trips and it appears they only have one for hundreds of people checking in and out. Smh, very disappointed. This Holiday Inn must do better!
The location of the Downtown Brooklyn Holiday Inn was what we needed. The check in staff and service for breakfast was good. The quality of the hotel itself did not meet the expectations of the Holiday Inn brand. There were only 2 towels in the bathroom, no hand towels (they don't have them) and very thin washcloths. Housekeeping came once in 4 days. We requested more towels and were delivered promptly. The furniture and fixtures in the room were WAY beyond their useful life. Carpets and baseboards were dirty and there was dirt (or mold?) on the bathroom walls. We spent almost $400 per night ($1500 total) and were offered IHG points worth less than $50 as compensation. I will not choose this hotel next time.
There is a timeless saying: "Watch your thoughts, they become words; watch your words, they become actions; watch your actions, they become habits; watch your habits, they become character; watch your character, for it becomes your destiny." After my family’s experience at the Holiday Inn Brooklyn Downtown, I couldn't help but think of Jennifer Zarillo, Front Office Manager. Everything about Jennifer and her team reflects true white-glove, five-star service not simply because it's what they do, but because it's who they are. From the moment I arrived, every interaction was marked by professionalism, warmth, attentiveness, and genuine hospitality. Jennifer leads with excellence, setting a standard that is evident throughout her entire front office team. Great customer service can be taught, but authentic care, integrity, and consistency come from character. Jennifer embodies those qualities effortlessly. She makes every guest feel welcomed, valued, and appreciated, creating an experience that extends far beyond a hotel stay. If you're visiting Brooklyn and looking for a place where hospitality is more than a promise, it's a culture you'll find it here. Jennifer Zarillo and her team represent the very best of what exceptional service should look like. Thank you, Jennifer, for leading with grace, excellence, and heart. You have created an environment where guests don't just stay, they feel genuinely cared for. Five stars, without hesitation.
We stayed at the Holiday Inn Brooklyn Downtown from June 11–14, 2026. Overall, the stay was okay, but there were enough issues that I can't rate it higher than 3 stars. Before arriving, I called the hotel because we were driving over 8 hours in a pickup truck and wanted information about valet parking. The representative was friendly, provided clear instructions, and let us know that the street directly in front of the hotel was under construction, requiring us to approach from a different street. While I appreciated the heads-up, it made me wonder what would have happened if I hadn't called ahead, as there didn't appear to be any communication about this beforehand. Check-in was less impressive. The front desk agent, Jaden, was extremely soft-spoken, and I had to repeatedly ask him to speak up. He seemed annoyed by this, which made the interaction uncomfortable. I understand that some people are naturally quiet, but in a customer-facing role, clear communication is important. We were also given very little information about the property—no directions to the elevators, pool, or other amenities. I've stayed at many hotels, and a brief overview of the property is usually standard practice. The room itself was spacious, especially considering the Downtown Brooklyn location, and the view was great. The bed was incredibly comfortable and was easily one of the highlights of the stay. However, we were told the room had been newly renovated, and it didn't feel fully finished. There were paint splatters on the full-length mirror, plastic still attached to the sink, and an oversized opening around the TV installation that looked unfinished. There were also no welcome materials, notepad, or pen in the room. While those are small details, they contribute to the overall guest experience. We also had issues with the refrigerator, which did not consistently stay cold. After a long day of travel, we chose not to report every issue because we simply wanted to rest rather than spend time waiting for repairs or room visits. Cleanliness throughout the hotel was another concern. The hallways had an odd odor, the elevators appeared overdue for cleaning, and the floors were noticeably dirty. The glass at the main entrance was covered with fingerprints, and the lobby light fixtures were coated with dust. There is also a wall that appears intended for plants or greenery, but it currently sits empty and detracts from the appearance of the lobby. Finally, our room keys stopped working after the first day, requiring a trip back to the front desk to have them reactivated. There are definitely positives here—the comfortable bed, spacious room, nice view, and helpful employee I spoke with before arrival—but the property needs to pay more attention to maintenance, cleanliness, communication, and overall attention to detail. With some improvements, this could be a much better experience.
