The Hotel Pierre has changed and for the better! Reversing my previous vow that I would not return I booked a room and took my nephew to visit New York. I understand the management has changed. The staff, from the concierges to the front desk to the maid service made such a positive impression on us that I decided to share our experience. The room was a 61st street view. It was properly sized for two. The room was immaculately clean with twin beds and a bathroom with a shower and a bath tub. The air conditioning was very good and adjustable in the room. The staff was outgoing and pleasant - eager to greet, engage in conversation and assist with guest needs. Leonardo, our concierge, arranged all our restaurant reservations and was easy to reach via telephone. The hotel is a classic Manhattan structure - high ceilings in the rooms and elegant throughout. I will definitely be back. I will admit the hotel does cost a bit more; but, it is truly a five star hotel.
We booked through our Bank’s Visa Signature offer which entitles you to upgrades and certain privileges. Unfortunately : Front desk said upgrade rooms were not available; I showed them on their website that their park view room showed available for booking but they denied. Their next upgrade would be an extra $3000 per night. The hotel stated that we were eligible for additional benefits like room upgrades and complimentary car service. But these were NEVER available…VERY annoying because we saw the car and chauffeur was there but were given excuses why it wasn’t available: car problems first, then someone already “booked” even though this was on a first come first served basis. The feedback to the managers feel on deaf ears. On the positive note, location is beautiful (why we chose this) and housekeeping was excellent!
Finding a peaceful oasis in the middle of Manhattan is a luxury in itself, and my evening at The Pierre was exactly that. The atmosphere was incredibly tranquil and effortlessly exclusive—it truly made me feel as though I was a private resident of the hotel rather than just a diner. The service was warm, highly attentive, and incredibly accommodating. I left my drink orders entirely in the hands of the staff, asking them to surprise me, and they delivered an exceptional series of expertly crafted cocktails. Furthermore, while New York is famously celebrated for its corner street slices, I decided to try the pizza here. It was a beautifully refined, delicious take that completely won me over. A flawless, sophisticated escape in the city.
The Pierre has the kindest and most considerate staff of any hotel in New York City The charm and warmth of their elevator operators might be the best part (last ones in the city!) but it’s a unique and beautifully kept up relic of old New York that I hope stays this way forever. Thank you for making our stay wonderful!
Nice staff and the rooms - and beds - are very comfortable. Noisy hotel however, mostly because of the large outdoor machinery / common heating and AC equipment (loud hum). In-room AC units very loud also. Rating reflects this. Avoid staying here if a light sleeper like me; otherwise a great hotel.
