This is the cutest little hotel! It's in a great location, such fun decor, and the room was perfect for a solo traveler - clean, kitchenette, views, great bathroom, comfortable bed. The front desk staff were courteous and helpful. I loved the whole vibe and will definitely be staying there again!
My stay at The Penny was enjoyable, but there are a few details I wish I knew before booking that will prevent my return. 1) There is no GRASS on the property for your dog to use the bathroom. There is a dirt plot (with poop in it) that my dog refused to use because of the lack of grass. So much potty training relies on the scent of grass. I had to walk half a mile to McCarren park late at night for my dog to use the bathroom. 2) There are no ice machines, the fridge and tap don't get very cold, and the freezer is full of ice. 3) The glass separating the bathroom from the rest of the room is frosted and vaguely see through. You will see your fellow guests through the glass. There are large gaps around the door that mean you will hear them in there, too. 4) The art was strange and unpleasant. The art was all Taylor Swift themed. I booked a dog themed hotel and there were 6 portraits of Taylor Swift in my room. I'm sure it had to do with her wedding but I'm not a Taylor Swift fan. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive. All of my issues are material, and these small details will mean I book elsewhere in the future.
Great experience at the Penny! Incredibly well located in Williamsburg, very accessible to the train lines and situated in a really charming part of the neighborhood. The room space is a bit tight, to be expected, but worth noting. The shower also had a mildewy smell if the door was left shut post-shower, so I had to leave it open which limited the bathroom space further. Overall really great value, the room has everything you could need, and is thoughtfully designed. Staff were super attentive and helpful, rooftop was stunning. Would absolutely consider staying here again, and would recommend.
I recently stayed at Penny Williamsburg with my two dogs and could not be happier with the experience. From the moment we walked in, the woman at the front desk was incredibly welcoming, greeting us with a warm smile and immediately winning my dogs' hearts with treats. The room itself was flawless. It was super clean, beautifully designed, and featured a large window, a TV, and a convenient kitchen. The bathroom was spotless and stocked with everything I could possibly need. Plus, the central A/C was a lifesaver, it kept the room cool while running completely silently. Having access to a terrace on my floor was a huge bonus, as it gave my dogs a great space to hang out. To top it off, the food and room service were both absolutely impeccable. We will not stay anywhere else when we visit NYC!
This is a fantastic hotel to stay at if you want to be in Brooklyn. The service is exceptional and the rooms are full of cool pictures and art that really makes it stand out versus other hotels. It also has a bar and overlook of Brooklyn on the rooftop, and it is just around the corner from some good restaurants and grocery stores. The only difficult thing with the whole area is parking, but there is a loading spot to allow you to bring your gear up to your room that is right in front of the door.
