As someone who is incredibly critical of hotels that claim to be 5 stars, I have no complaints. 1) The rooms were spotless, unique, well maintained and appointed with high quality furniture. The bathroom toiletries were all top notch. 2) The service was fitting for a 5 star hotel. Our room was not ready when we arrived and we were immediately and appropriately given vouchers to the bar. 3) I don’t know when I’ll return to NYC. While I like to try new hotels while traveling, it will be very tempting to return here.
Our stay at Hotel Chelsea was absolutely fabulous. This iconic hotel, originally built in the late1800s, has been beautifully restored and updated while preserving its historic charm and character. The staff was outstanding—friendly, professional, and genuinely welcoming throughout our stay. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and thoughtfully appointed, making it a pleasure to return to after a day of exploring New York City. One of the most unique and memorable aspects of the hotel is its incredible collection of artwork. Every floor is lined with fascinating pieces, making it feel as though you're strolling through an art gallery. We found ourselves stopping frequently to admire the artwork, which adds tremendously to the hotel's character and creative spirit. The location is excellent, with easy access to so many of the city's attractions, restaurants, and neighborhoods. We also loved the bar, which has a wonderful atmosphere and was one of the highlights of our visit. Hotel Chelsea perfectly combines history, art, elegance, comfort, and exceptional service. We would gladly stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting New York City.
The hotel Chelsea is the most gorgeous hotel in NYC, with the most incredible staff (thanks Judianne)!!!! So welcoming, accommodating, and helpful. Every single moment of our stay was enjoyable, from the beautiful hotel bar, brand new Japanese restaurant Teruko in the cellar with SUPERB service (Zack was the best!), and especially the room! We stayed in the premier Chelsea- the bathroom was enormous, with a bathtub, there was lots of sunlight coming in through the gorgeous balcony windows during the day, there were plenty of snacks and liquor at the personal bar, and books explaining the rich history of the building! I highly recommend staying here if you're visiting New York!
We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at Hotel Chelsea. The location lends to easy navigation of NYC via the close proximity of many subway lines. The staff here were both courteous and helpful. The food, drink, and vibe were on point. We look forward to our next stay there.
Stayed here on a Monday in May with my (now) fiancée to get engaged. It’s always been a dream for us, we’re both really into NYC art culture of the ‘60s and ‘70s, and holy moley did the design team do a FANTASTIC JOB. First of all though, the hospitality is outstanding. I work in hospitality myself, and I emailed to see if I could pre-pay for the room (they did accommodate but it was a big exception) and mentioned that we were getting engaged. They upgraded us to the room where DYLAN THOMAS LIVED, an enormous suite with a king bed, balcony right under the sign, and a vintage tub along with a waterfall shower, a bunch of other great stuff. We were treated as VIPs the entire stay, and it seems like key members of staff were briefed on who we were, which is very high level stuff, especially for a couple staying one night on a weekday and not spending thousands and thousands of dollars, you do that for the love of the game. I wish I got names but I’d especially like to shout out the receptionist with curly hair, the lobby bartender who looks like John Mulaney and the entire bell desk team. We did drinks at the lobby bar before going up to the room, dinner at el quijote, and breakfast at cafe Chelsea and all were amazingly appointed with great attentive service and food that rivals any hotel restaurant offering in NYC right now, as good as the Nomad. It’s a great mix of keeping the spirit of the original spaces alive but still making it feel like a luxury experience, and while I was a little surprised at the price, I consider the room a bargain (750ish before fees, but then, we got upgraded I believe every room has a balcony which was my favorite part). Other things to note, the gym and spa on the roof are lovely and the roof is worth a visit on its own, really great nighttime view. We walked all the way down every floor to see the wall art and the history, I’ve never felt compelled to do that in a hotel before. There’s a target and a Papaya Dog (!!!) right outside, along with a 24 hour bodega. Around the corner there’s great vintage shopping and a cool hole in the wall guitar store in the same building as the Chelsea. We’ve been looking for a great NYC hotel since The Nomad went under, and we’ve found it. It wasn’t even a question that it’ll be an annual trip going forward.
