We had a great stay at Freehand New York. We had a corner king, which was a great space. The bed was super comfy, the shower and facilities were great. The front of house team were very good, welcoming, helpful and there was always a few people at reception to support guests. The location was great, walking distance to the subway and all the key sites. It's thoroughly recommend.
First stay at the Freehand hotel and It has exceeded my expectations. Was welcomed with impeccable hospitality, Hero and Kyle are the goats with their service, going above and beyond. The room’s wood features and beige walls felt so cosy that i had no troubles sleeping at night. My one negative note is the comedically small fridge, but i can look past that hahah. Definitely recommend staying here.
Loved this hotel. When visiting NYC we normally stay midtown around 35th street so this was further out for us but we really liked it. I was slightly nervous at first when I read about live DJs and thought this was a bit of a party hotel but we never heard a thing. Loved the rooftop bar and really handy cafe for breakfast (Starbucks is also over the road). The hotel felt more like being in a neighbourhood and it was great to have a Target and Trader Joes within a 10 minute walk. Staff were really nice, the doorman/bell man especially who helped us with a taxi back to JFK. Would 100% stay again.
This is the second time I have stayed at Freehand. The rooms are incredibly small, with half-sized minifridges that only fit the two bottles of water they give you when you check in. You may or may not have a closet. No ice machines but they will give you ice and a bigger fridge if you ask for it. Bathrooms are clean and updated. Location is near subway and bus but most places in NYC are. Not a lot of restaurants/bars/entertainment in direct vicinity but not far away. Both times I have stayed, the rooftop part was closed. I was scolded by staff for having my feet on what clearly looked like and was placed as an ottoman in the reception area. He could have been a bit nicer. Bell boys were super nice, friendly, and helpful. I price compared with other hotels like Hilton and the prices were similar so…make your own decision but just know that the rooms are tiny with comfortable beds but two people in one room is a stretch. I won’t stay again unless there’s some kind of price deal that is so incredible, I can’t pass it up. Otherwise, I think other hotels offer more for the same price.
