42 Hotel
New York

I really enjoyed my stay here. From check in to check out the staff was very kind. The location is great as well. Every restaurant I tried in the surrounding area was fantastic. I highly recommend if you want to indulge in the local side of New York.
42 Hotel is a quality boutique hotel with newer amenities that my wife and I appreciated as a home base for our 5-day stay in NYC. This was the second half of our trip to the East Coast for the 4th of July and after having a delightful stay up the coast in Boston we were happy to find a quiet hotel out of the way in Brooklyn for our second half. Overall, the hotel is nice and well-located, just off of the Broadway stop for the Brooklyn G-Line, and the Hewes stop for the M and J lines across the Williamsburg Bridge into Downtown Manhattan, making it a great hotel for those who want to take the train into the City. As for the room, they're about average for the Brooklyn side, not large if you're from out of town but not too small. The King bed fit well and there were plenty of electrical sockets to plug our devices into while in the room. The bathroom was well stocked and had very hot water coming out of a decently strong showerhead. Overall a pleasant room and a good base of operations. Front desk crew were happy to work with us on check-in and out, happily taking our bags on our last day after check-out until our trip back to the Airport. If there was one thing that could be changed is that the lobby was a bit over-perfumed with something generic to the point that coming home late at night it was a bit overwhelming. Luckily it was only on that particular floor so otherwise the stay was quite lovely!
I hadn't stayed in the area before so I was a little unsure when we arrived, easily from the subway, but the service was so nice. There was not a bit of orneryness in anyone. I love love love that they had a free small bottle of wine, chocolates and water already in the room. Other hotels should take note. The room had good amenities but could be a bit updated. The shower pressure was actually great too. If I could give half points I would upgrade them.
We stayed a week at Hotel 42. The location was great - very close to catch a subway, lots of delicious restaurants nearby. We enjoyed evening cocktails at the bar in the cellar of the building. The neighborhood felt very safe and was very clean. We were here for our daughter's graduation from Columbia and I really enjoyed being in this neighborhood vs the city.
The hotel was pristinely maintained. Great rooms with coffee and tea and fridge in the room. Rooms have an iron and hair dryer. Has blackout blinds. Only a block away from the subway so easy access to explore both manhattan and Brooklyn or any other parts of NY.
