I've walked by this place at least a couple of dozen times. I had no idea it was here. We checked in at the front desk and then we were guided down into the belly of the Beast. We first sat at the bar but then we were moved to front row seats in front of the band. The place was old school with small intimate seats candles on each table, dark wood walls, lots of mirrors and low light. The servers were excellent and attentive and the drink list was quite creative. All drinks were in the twenty-dollar ballpark but well worth it when you consider what a romantic and intimate place this is. I will definitely return and bring my NYC visitors with me.
The bartenders was stunning! Efficient, quick and very talkative and kind even being extremely busy! Difficult to find down the basement. Cool spot, live music. I liked it!
Amazing cocktail bar!! We went after my birthday dinner just for drinks but ended up having such a great time! The vibes were really good, they were playing Christmas music and everything just felt super nice. Drinks were good too. Would definitely go back!
What is there to tell about Mme George except that the program is as colorful as the staff. Chris was one of the bar team tonight taking care of us. Cracking jokes, playing pseudo therapist & moderator slash master of ceremonies. In the best way, Chris (and the rest of the team) are very direct & very real reason to visit. Between my wife & I visiting from upstate NY, we met a couple visiting from BC, Canada who were thoroughly entertained with the interactions. Drinks can be forgotten but service is the most memorable part of the guest experience. Keep it up y'all. With love, Anton & Lisa Lone Wolf Kingston, NY
Went here on a Friday night with friends (reservation for 4, highly recommend booking ahead). We got there around 9pm and they had live music playing almost the whole night — such a fun vibe. The interior design and overall atmosphere really give you that speakeasy feel, stylish and unique. We ordered the appetizer “tower” to share (mini burgers and snacks, solid but nothing mind-blowing) and a couple of oyster plates (just okay). Drinks were great, though most leaned on the stronger/earthy side — not many sweet cocktail options if that’s your thing. Still, the menu is creative and well-curated. Price-wise, it adds up quickly — with the apps, oysters, and a couple drinks each, the bill was over $300 for four people. Definitely on the expensive side, but it felt worth it for the experience. Service was attentive without being pushy. They checked in often at first, but later gave us space to relax and enjoy, which I really appreciated — no rushing to finish or leave. Overall, a great place for a chill but classy evening with friends. Would absolutely recommend if you’re looking for a fun speakeasy experience in Manhattan.
