So after reading the reviews about this hotel I was a bit apprehensive on arrival and didn't no what to expect. Upon arrival we were checked in by I guy named Kevin and her was cool. At check in he gave us water and cookies and was friendly enough to make me feel at ease. He also gave us a list of recommendations of activities and restaurants to check out within in the area which we were also happy with. We had booked a family room because we had our 2 young daughters with us and I expected it to be smaller than it was but it was big enough for us. The AC was noisy but it worked so we were happy with that. The shower made a noise also but if you turned it the opposite way just a little it stopped and the water was always hot enough for a shower. The room itself was clean and we were on the 7th floor right outside the lifts. With only being on the 7th floor the lifts wasn't really a problem for us and sometimes we would use the stairs if we were waiting to long and we didn't have an issue with that again because we were only on the 7th floor. The location was perfect for us and we were spoilt for choice when it came to food places. We didn't feel uneasy once why we were walking the streets even walking back late at night with our 2 young girls. The streets were always busy and the police were on the road next to us some of the time so it felt safe to us. I'm not saying that this hotel dosent have it's problems but we were lucky enough to not encounter any of them. We were only in our room to sleep, other than that we were out exploring New York. Check out was easy and we booked a Airport shuttle to JFK through the hotel transfer desk and were happy with the price and the service we recived. I would stay here again because it was right for us and we didn't mind it at all. I great time in NYC.
The location was perfect. You could walk anywhere and there was a subway station one block away. The rooms are small, but really nice and clean. The service was also great! They had a free service to keep your bags on the day of checkin and check out. The room price was really reasonable, especially to be in this location in New York. I was apprehensive about being on the 32 floor, but the elevators were pretty fast and I had a great view from my room. I definitely plan to stay at this location again when I go back to NYC.
What I liked: The location is probably the best part of this hotel. It's in walking distance of Times Square, bryant park, major subways and the bus depo. The cleaning staff were lovely and the staff were as nice as they could be given how busy the hotel is. The roof top level was nice at sunset with great views of New York and the location is central so you're able to go anywhere in New York in any direction from the nearby subways What wasn't so good: The rooms are small and expensive. There is no fridge in the room and the hotel is crazy busy at all times. The reception was always packed with people and the line to speak to staff was always long. I ordered room service from the code in the room and it never came and when I tried to cancel it, you don't speak to staff, you speak to an AI agent who isn't helpful. The lifts are slow and the ice machine in the hall drives you nuts at all hours of the night. Overall, if you're looking for a good base hotel to explore New York in under a week, this is your go to hotel. If you're staying more than 3 days, find something else that is more comfortable to relax in after long days of walking that has a fridge and a comfier bed. Highly recommend walking to the Westway diner a few blocks up from the hotel for breakfast each day
After a very stressful start to our New York trip, Sata at the DoubleTree Times Square West completely turned things around for us. We had originally been assigned a room on the 6th floor, but the air conditioning wasn’t working, the room felt humid, and the phone wasn’t working either. Sata listened to our concerns with genuine care and immediately found a solution. She upgraded us to a beautiful corner room on the 32nd floor with an incredible view, and it made all the difference in our stay. Her kindness, professionalism, and willingness to go above and beyond truly stood out. After our reservation at another hotel was unexpectedly canceled despite us having paid over $1,700, we were already overwhelmed. Sata treated us with compassion and made us feel welcomed and valued from the moment she helped us. Employees like her are the reason guests return. Thank you, Sata, for your outstanding customer service and for making our family trip so much better. We truly appreciate everything you did!
I usually stay at a Hilton, but have to say this location was probably our least favourite location. We had called the front desk about getting robes, and the individual said he will send it up. After almost an hour of waiting, we called again, and he said he told housekeeping to bring it and will give them a nudge. We hadn't received it for the rest of the day so after we went out, we went by the front desk, and another individual said they don't offer robes here. The most annoying thing about this hotel is the elevator. Be prepared to wait for 5-15 minutes to get an elevator. It's very slow . There were a couples instances for us and others on the elevator with us where we weren't able to click our floor level on the elevator. Had to take the stairs at one point and we were on floor 22. Halfway through our stay, one of our key cards to our room stopped working. Luckily, we had both key cards with us at the time. Rooms were okay-clean. Washrooms didn't feel the cleanest to be honest, but the bedroom area was fine! They had a smart tv which was great - not all Hiltons have that!
