This is a perfect hotel and location to base out of for all things Times Square and Manhattan. It is an unassuming building sandwiched between the W and Edison hotels only about a two minute walk from the actual square area and a five to ten minute walk to subways that can get you anywhere else you want to go. Rooms are all new and the windows have great sound proofing. The hotel does not have a restaurant and some of the amenities of the fancier nearby hotels but they do have a marketplace with snacks and drinks and a barista on staff in the mornings who makes incredible coffee in the lobby area. We stayed for five days and I would definitely stay here again while in NYC.
Staff and security was incredible and so friendly. Helped a group of girls in a time of need without hesitation. Would definitely recommend.
I hesitated to write this review because, honestly, I am hoping it takes a while for everyone to find this gem hiding in the middle of Times Square and the Theatre District. If the key to real estate is Location, Location, Location then five stars is too low a rating. We're talking 100 ft from Broadway and the iconic red stairs of Times Square right in the heart of everything, people. Right next door to the W without the W prices. That said, I have spent decades in the hospitality field, and I will prioritize people over proximity every day and this is where the Cambria on 47th really shined. Everyone was friendly, welcoming and seemed to genuinely care that my wife and I enjoyed our visit. Mia, in particular, was an absolute rock star. Upon our arrival, we encountered Mia handle a frustrated guest (the frustration appeared to be the result of a language barrier and not any problem with the hotel) and she did so with patience, grace and an unwavering smile. During our entire visit, Mia continued to exude a genuine and kind vibe that she paired easily with a clever sense of humor. In short, she made you feel you were visiting family and not just a stranger visiting the city that never sleeps. I don't know what Mia's title is or if she was in charge, but she definitely led by example as all of the employees were similarly engaged including a young man named "Z" who was likewise very kind and personable. My wife and I visit the City 4-5 times per year and have stayed at something like 7 or 8 different hotels in the area of various sizes and price points and, based on the guest service and interaction we experienced this past week, would place this one at the top of the list. Now, for those who want the nitty. Yes, the place is new so there is still some work to be done, but I am confident Mia, Z and the others got this. I am also sure more amenities and features will be added as they get all of their systems on line. I believe these last several weeks have been a sort of "soft opening." The rooms are on the smaller side but not stifling. Plus, you don't go to NYC to stay in a hotel room all day. If you are measuring your visit in weeks not days, maybe the size of the room could be an issue, but otherwise you should be fine. The beds are super comfortable, the bathrooms well set up and the shower was killer (good water pressure and plenty of hot water, two things you can't always take for granted in NYC). The TV was great and offered local channels/cable (another thing you can't take for granted these days). Finally, the pastries and muffins they put out for breakfast looked absolutely delicious and appeared to be delivered from a local bakery as evidenced by the boxes with the signature red/white bakery string that I hadn't seen since I was a kid. In the end, it was a great time, great location and, on behalf of my wife and I, we say thank you Mia, Z and the gang.
Great location, clean hotel and lovely staff We had a very pleasant stay overall. The front desk hosts were lovely, welcoming and helpful. The hotel was clean, very close to Times Square, and reasonably priced compared with many other hotels in the area. The only issue we experienced was the noise from housekeeping. Because the rooms are fairly close together, when rooms were being cleaned, there was a lot of repeated door slamming. On one morning, it started around 8 a.m. and woke up my teenager. We also noticed it during the day — after spending hours walking around in the heat, we would come back after lunch hoping to rest for a little while, only to hear doors constantly slamming. I completely understand that housekeeping has an important job to do, but there should be a way to keep the doors open while rooms are being serviced without repeatedly allowing them to slam shut. A small change here would make a big difference for guests trying to sleep or rest. Other than that, we really enjoyed the hotel and would recommend it for its cleanliness, location, friendly staff and reasonable pricing.
We had a wonderful stay at Cambria. It was quiet, clean and peaceful stay. Highly recommend.
