Great place to stop into after a day of shopping in herald square. the drinks are really well made and my favorite were the fries. the sauces were so good.
I’ve been to Rag Trader several times, and while the service has never been exceptional, it has usually been decent…until tonight. Let me mention that the manger was nice from the get go and offered me a table. Thank you. I came in for a Stormy Martini and ordered two. When the second drink arrived, I immediately noticed something off: the glass didn’t look quite the same as the first, and there was visible foam sitting midway inside the glass, almost as if it had already been used. After drinking about half, I became more concerned that the glass may not have been clean or fresh. When I brought this to the manager’s attention, he insisted he personally watched a new glass being used. But if that’s the case, it raises an even more concerning question, why did the glass appear used? What frustrated me even more was the overall lack of attentiveness. The server never greeted or welcomed me. I watched him refill the water glasses at the table next to me, yet my almost empty glass sat untouched. I mentioned this to the manager as well. He apologized, but even then, no one refilled my water. After waiting another 10 minutes, I had to flag down a busser just to get tap water. Some may see these as small details, but they matter. When someone chooses to spend their money at a restaurant, whether it’s $1 or $10,000, they deserve basic hospitality and service. In a city like NYC, where diners have endless options, restaurants should understand that service is not a luxury; it’s part of the experience. The manager did remove one of the drinks from my bill, and while I appreciated the gesture, I initially told him not to because I didn’t want it to seem like I was looking for a handout. As a Black woman, I’m especially mindful of how easily legitimate concerns can be misinterpreted or stereotyped. I’m leaving this review not for compensation, but because I believe customers deserve better.
A cozy, charming spot with a warm atmosphere. The food was solid, the drinks menu had plenty of great options, and the steak was surprisingly well-executed. Overall, a really enjoyable experience—I left impressed.
The food was delicious. I had the steak frites as suggested by our waiter, Connor, who was attentive and lighthearted. He helped us turn a rough night around for the best! I’ll be back!
Connor is a warm, welcoming, host. He gave exceptional recommendations and was friendly the entire service. The atmosphere of this place for a last minute walk in is more than what I expected. I see myself coming back and have already recommended to my friends! Great Sangria!! That sticky toffee pudding is to die for! Enjoy!
