When we arrived at the hotel, there was a sign indicating that the area directly in front of the hotel was designated for guests checking in. I believe the sign also mentioned a 10–15 minute grace period for parking. As soon as we pulled up and began taking our luggage out of the vehicle, a security guard came running over and told us, “You can’t park here.” I explained that we were not parking and were simply unloading our bags. Despite the hotel’s own signage indicating that this was permitted for arriving guests, the security guard was dismissive and showed no consideration for the situation. I then proceeded to the front desk, where the associate was on the phone. She motioned for me to give her a moment, so I stepped aside and sat down because I did not want to be intrusive. However, once she finished her call, she proceeded to assist another guest who had arrived after me without acknowledging me or simply letting me know that she would be with me shortly. The entire arrival and check-in experience felt unnecessarily frustrating.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel I should share my experience. My first concern was the parking charge. My husband and I stayed at the hotel with one vehicle, but I received an email showing that I had been charged twice for parking. When I went to the front desk to ask about it, I was told the parking entry had been entered incorrectly. Instead of calmly helping me, the receptionist spoke to me in a loud and unprofessional manner. The charge was eventually corrected, but the situation should not have happened in the first place. I was also disappointed with the heated pool. The hotel advertises a heated pool, but the water was very cold. I only stepped into the pool briefly and had to get out because it was not warm. I even contacted the front desk twice about the pool, but nothing changed. Later, two other guests asked about my experience and told me they also felt the pool was cold and were disappointed. The only positive part of my stay was one male staff member in a white shirt. He was polite, greeted guests with a smile, and treated people respectfully. Unfortunately, my overall experience with the front desk staff was disappointing. I believe guests deserve accurate billing and professional, respectful customer service.

This is a newer hotel and the rooms are clean and up-to-date. The front desk safe was rather unwelcoming and surly, though the breakfast room staff was terrific. Parking is in the third floor of a neighboring garage, and no one told me at check-in that the elevator wasn't working, so carrying my bags down the stairs and across the road was no fun, when they could have suggested I unload before parking. Obviously, I understand that elevators break down and then get fixed, so this is more a statement on the unhelpful front desk people than it is on the physical state of the elevator.

Courtyard by Marriott Edgewater NYC Area offers a clean, comfortable, and top-notch stay. The rooms are well-maintained, and the beds are very comfortable. The bathroom is spotless, and the shower has great water pressure, which is always a plus. The TV is a smart TV, so you can watch Netflix and YouTube, and it even comes with a personalized welcome message. The hallways are clean and smell nice, adding to the overall pleasant experience. Wi-Fi is strong and reliable as well. They offer breakfast for $18, though we didn’t try it. Parking costs $18 per night and is located on the 3rd floor of the parking building. The staff were okay, though we noticed we weren’t given the complimentary bottled water during check-in. On the plus side, they can assist with transportation to NYC, which is helpful. The location is great, with a mall within walking distance and a nearby harbor area where you can enjoy a beautiful view of Upper Manhattan. It’s about 30–40 minutes away from Manhattan with traffic, making it a good option if you want to stay outside the city but still have access to it. Overall, a great and comfortable hotel with nice amenities and views—would definitely consider staying here again!
