The Gardens Sonesta ES Suites New York

We selected the hotel based on location to the hospital, and having a suite. The location was great for Lennix Hill Hospital, not as good for the sites. There was however, easy access to the subway. It was very clean and staff was great, laundry room was very nice. I did not give 5 stars based on the amenities, for the cost per night I felt like they could have done a better job, a few snacks were placed out for a few hours, typicaly after most had left for the day, they did have a great coffee machine, that was the extent of it. I also did not like the suprise check out $45 dollar hotel fee (for what? I paid for everything I received up front)For those reasons I am giving them 4 stars. I will say that I have never been or stayed in New York before, and this could be the normal, based on thier price range. All in, I would stay again.
Perfect location for touring, excellent and friendly service (especially Chris(sp?) and Michael). Loved having an apartment with good sitting space (and a motorized recliner!) and good kitchen with a keurig for my early morning coffee fix. I would definitely stay here again
Here’s what I liked about the rooms and hotel that you can’t find on the website: high quality faucets with very good water pressure in both kitchen and bathroom; great lighting with ample lights/lamps spaced throughout the suite; the cleaning meets my high standards; the staff are exceptionally helpful - we arrived in the middle of the night and found the pullout couch set up and with bedding on it all ready for us. This is just one example of the above-and-beyond customer service we received throughout our stay. This is a very, very well managed hotel.
Rooms are spacious and light, and clean. However, when I found out that dogs stay in the rooms, I asked for a room that had been animal free. Apparently the hotel do not keep a section of the hotel that has never had animals in, but I was assured that the rooms were thoroughly cleaned after a dog has been in there with its owner. I was a bit wary as I know many dog owners allow their dog to sleep on their bed with them, but I was led to believe quilts and everything were thoroughly cleaned! I stayed for almost a week, and by the end of my visit I had about 10 spots on my right thigh and leg, that were red and itchy. I saw a dermatologist when I returned to the UK, and she diagnosed the spots were flea bites!!! I have never had flea bites in my life. I think it is atrocious that you pay for a supposed upmarket accommodation, and that this happens as a consequence of sloppy, 'not caring' management. In the UK, hotels, have separate parts that remain animal free for those guests that prefer that. I was not expecting this to happen, but now it has I ask that you consider changing your policy to one that accommodates all guests, and their wishes. There are many people, while they still love dogs, do not choose to share their bed, their bedroom, or even their couch with a dog.
This hotel is ideally located with access to all things NYC in mere moments. It's in a quieter neighborhood and near a lot of great lil' cafes, restaurants and shops. The hotel front desk employees are so kind, helpful and welcoming! The rooms are spacious and very, very clean. The decor is a little dated, but I'll take cleanliness, kind employees, and a perfect location any day! Would definitely stay here again.
