Description
The Museum of Arts and Design welcomes everyone to see the world through the eyes of an artist. We are located in the heart of New York City, right on Columbus Circle and just steps from Central Park and Times Square. From the provocative to the popular, surprising, thought-provoking works of art and design are always on view, many of them carefully crafted by hand. At MAD, the creative process is an up close and personal experience. What’s on at MAD: · The Mad MAD World of Jonathan Adler: In his first curatorial role, celebrated potter and designer Jonathan Adler invites us into his glamorous, witty, and wonderful universe through more than 60 works from the Museum’s permanent collection alongside his own iconic designs. · Douriean Fletcher: Jewelry of the Afrofuture: Presenting 75 works from the artist’s collection, this exhibition tells the inspiring story of Fletcher’s evolution from self-taught metalsmith to an influential designer whose handmade adornments have graced the silver screen, most notably in Marvel Studios’ Black Panther movies. · Designing Motherhood: Things that Make and Break Our Births: Making its New York debut at the Museum of Arts and Design, Designing Motherhood spans 150 years of design for reproductive health and well-being, and includes more than 250 design objects related to fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and parenthood. · MAD Artist Studios, creative workspaces for artists on site at the museum where visitors are welcome to ask questions, view works in progress, and gain firsthand exposure to the artmaking process. Artist Studios hours are 10:30 AM-5:30 PM on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, and 12-7 PM on Thursday. Robert Restaurant, located on the Museum’s ninth floor and offering breathtaking views of Central Park. Robert is a New York City classic destination for contemporary American fare and signature cocktails. The Store at MAD, where you can shop for stylish, beautifully crafted gifts for all ages and artisanal products for the home at one New York City’s most beloved museum stores.Includes
