Description

Embark on a multicultural walking adventure through Jackson Heights, New York's most diverse and fascinating neighborhood. Experience total immersion as you connect with the smells, sounds, colors and flavors that make this corner of Queens a mosaic of living cultures. We begin our tour at 74th Street, where the 'Abundance' sculpture is located, our meeting point. From there, we enter Little India, a vibrant place that looks like something out of a Bollywood movie: sari stores, golden jewelry stores, supermarkets full of exotic spices and tempting street food carts - you can even try traditional sweets or a typical South Asian snack! We will continue walking towards Little Colombia, where the atmosphere changes radically: Latin music, typical cafes and local stores immerse us in the flavor and warmth of the Colombian Caribbean. We will taste an authentic Colombian coffee and learn the stories of those who make life in this corner of Queens. Then we move on to 37th Avenue, the historic axis of Jackson Heights, a neighborhood planned after World War II for wealthy families, now a symbol of inclusion and cultural diversity. Our last stop will be in the area known as PueblaYork, an explosive mix where cultures from Mexico, Bangladesh, Nepal, China, Tibet and more converge. We will visit Mexican stores, a traditional botanical store and a leather goods store. Here you can continue tasting, exploring or buying a special souvenir. Want more? At the end of the tour you will have fun options such as: Doing karaoke at a Mexican restaurant Enjoying happy hour at a neighborhood gay bar A unique and vibrant way to close your tour!
