Stayed here for 7 nights and I truly enjoyed my time. Size of the room was good and clean. Location was also excellent. Close to 72 and 79 subway stations. There’s a CVS across the street. It’s in a nice and kinda quiet part of Upper West Side. So if you don’t need to be super close to midtown where it can feel intense and chaotic, then I’d recommend this hotel. It’s also close to a lot of nice restaurants.
I stayed at the Arthouse Hotel in New York and would rate my experience 3 out of 5. I arrived at 3:40 PM and waited in the lobby until the official 4:00 PM check-in time after a long flight. However, when I went to the front desk, I was told my room was not ready and asked to wait longer. The receptionist was unfriendly, and when I asked about a complaint process, I was told there was none. The room was spacious, with two double beds, a sofa, and a large bathroom, but it lacked a mini-fridge and shower cap. The safe was loose inside the closet, and several light bulbs were burned out, making the room dark until I reported it. Overall, the room was comfortable, but the poor check-in experience, missing amenities, and maintenance issues made the stay disappointing for the price.
This is a cool spot and a really good bang for the buck. I was a little disappointed with the hotel bar situation- live music was advertised but not delivered, also would've been great if there were a brunch situation. However, service was solid, comfortable room, great location. I would stay here again 100%.
I chose Arthouse Hotel because of its location and had already booked another stay for the following week. Unfortunately, I canceled that reservation after this experience. I arrived before check in due to an event. I wasn’t expecting a room immediately, but rather than offering to see if anything could be done, I was simply reminded that check in is at 4 PM. Despite the hotel’s strict non smoking policy, one elevator had a strong cigarette smell. I also encountered two housekeeping employees joking in Spanish about one of them passing gas in the elevator and saying, “poor whoever gets on next.” They apparently didn’t realize I speak Spanish. It was unprofessional and disappointing. The final issue was late check out. When I asked about a complimentary late check out, I was first told yes, followed by “for $50.” When I clarified that I meant complimentary, I was told the hotel was fully booked and couldn’t accommodate it. If that were truly the case, it shouldn’t have been available for purchase either. Throughout my stay, Guest Services came across as unfriendly and overly focused on fees rather than hospitality. The hotel didn’t lose a customer over a late check out. It lost a week long return booking because of how the situation was handled.
Our stay here was okay. The hotel itself is nice but our room/bathroom was smaller than expected. For paying almost triple to stay at a boutique hotel versus a chain, I expected a little bit more. We did find two beer cans on our balcony that were from a previous stayer in our space. The balcony was big enough to host 6 people but our room only held 2. I think a balcony this size should have been attached to a double queen instead of a single king room. My aunts room (the double queen) was about triple the size of our room. The doormen and cleaning staff were extremely polite and helpful.
