The Dead Rabbit was a solid stop on our trip, but for us, it didn’t quite live up to all the hype. Don’t get me wrong—it’s a good Irish bar with a great atmosphere, and the Guinness was poured well and went down easy. One thing I did enjoy was looking over the impressive selection of Irish whiskeys displayed on the top shelves. If you’re a whiskey fan, it’s fun just seeing the variety they have behind the bar. That said, nothing really stood out as being extraordinary. The drinks were good, the service was good, and the atmosphere was enjoyable, but at the end of the day it felt like a really good Irish pub rather than a must-see destination. I’d still recommend stopping in if you’re in the area or want to check an iconic New York bar off your list. Just go in with realistic expectations. For us, it was a quality Irish pub with great Guinness and a fantastic whiskey selection—not necessarily a place that completely lived up to the legendary reputation.
We visited the upstairs cocktail lounge. Phenomenal cocktails, I tried the Gilded Lady and it did not disappoint! The food was upscale pub food, good flavour. Specifically the side of veggies was a good portion and delicious.
The Dead Rabbit Pub NYC is an exceptional spot that captures the authentic charm and atmosphere of a true Irish pub. From the moment you walk in, it feels warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed, with a genuine old-world character that makes the experience memorable. The Shepherd’s Pie is a standout dish—comforting, flavorful, and beautifully prepared, with exactly the kind of rich, satisfying quality you hope for in a classic pub meal. Altogether, it delivers a polished and highly enjoyable experience that feels both timeless and distinctively NYC.
We had a reservation in the parlor and had a really great time. The bar is quite busy and sort of unpleasant to get in simply from the crowd - even with a reservation you will wait. Once you’re sitting down and enjoying yourself it’s a comfortable, quiet atmosphere upstairs. The cocktails were excellent and we enjoyed everything - we’d get more next time but we didn’t quite have the time!
The Dead Rabbit is hands down my favorite bar in NYC. The bartenders are incredible—knowledgeable, friendly, and always professional, even when the place is buzzing. And trust me, it does get busy, so be prepared for a lively crowd. I usually hang out in the Tap Room, which has the perfect pub energy, but the Parlor upstairs is an absolute must-visit. Definitely make a reservation for the Parlor—it’s worth it. The Dead Rabbit is all about great Irish pub food, top-tier cocktails, and one of the best pints of Guinness you’ll find anywhere in NYC. A classic for a reason. 🍀🍺
