Harumi made our time at Bar 54 worth it! The food was alright, but the service was top notch. She was friendly and attentive to us, which made us feel very welcome. The view is also nice, but unfortunately, it was raining the day that we came.

Go to Bar 54 when you want an upscale, view-forward experience with well-crafted cocktails. It’s especially recommended for special occasions, a date, or an evening with friends who appreciate good drinks and a skyline backdrop. If budget is a concern, plan to share flights or visit during less busy hours. The Old Fashioned flight for $50 is a highlight and worth ordering if you enjoy whiskey and comparative tastings.
Bar 54 is a beautiful rooftop space with a wonderful atmosphere, great views, good drinks, and enjoyable food. Unfortunately, our experience with the manager overshadowed everything we liked about it. My husband and I were in New York City for a business conference at the Palladium nearby. A friend mentioned visiting Bar 54, so we decided to stop in for a drink and an appetizer. When we arrived, we recognized nine friends seated in an area with chairs and a couch. We pulled up a chair, and the bartender took our order for two martinis and hummus. Shortly afterward, the manager came out and abruptly demanded to know how many more people were going to arrive. We explained that we were attending a conference with approximately 500 people and could not control whether someone we knew might walk in and stop to say hello. We offered to leave, because we felt as though we were being scolded like children. His response was essentially that because we were spending money on alcohol, he wanted us to stay. About 30 minutes later, four more conference attendees recognized us and walked onto the balcony to say hello. The manager became extremely upset and announced that everyone would be placed on one check. On a business trip, one large check can be very inconvenient when individuals need separate receipts for expense reporting. His manner was so unnecessarily confrontational that my husband and I gave a friend money toward our portion and left. We genuinely enjoyed the rooftop atmosphere, drinks, food, and time with friends. The bartender also took care of us appropriately. Unfortunately, the manager’s hostility made an otherwise lovely experience uncomfortable and embarrassing. With more professional and courteous handling of groups, Bar 54 could have been a wonderful evening rather than a disappointing one.
The manager that seated us was amazing and really upbeat and fun!! Our server lacked the same energy but maybe he was just having a bad day. The views were awesome and the food was great as well as the drinks - though pricey- I think you are paying extra for the views and atmosphere which was fine with us!
So, I’m not sure why they only have a 4.1-star rating. In my opinion, they deserve more. Despite it being a long weekend, we managed to get seats. After requesting, they even gave me a seat outside on the patio. They politely asked us to reserve the seats for our booking, but we immediately booked them online and were also given patio seats. As for the food, since I’m a vegetarian, I have limited options. However, I did order a couple of cocktails that I really enjoyed. I also had Brussels sprouts, which were delicious. The staff was very polite and attentive throughout the meal. Overall, I would give this restaurant a 5-star rating.
