Location is priceless! We got 2 beds, a lovely view to the WTC. I think the carpet needs to be washed. Some wear and tear but let's be honest if you just going to get the hotel for sleeping, showering and recharging after a long day outside, it works. Also, everything is walking distance. About the elevator, if you go out early and come back late, you will be fine. The housekeeping ladies were so nice and professional! Desk members were nice. We had a good time.
You need to fix your procedures and properly train your staff. At the very least, they should knock before entering a guest’s room and ask whether anyone is inside. I booked the room for two nights, but the cleaning lady apparently decided she could enter whenever she wanted—even while my girlfriend and I were resting. She simply tried to walk into our room without warning. The only thing that prevented an even more shocking situation was the door security latch. This was completely unprofessional, unacceptable, and a serious violation of our privacy. My girlfriend and I were genuinely shocked by what happened. The room itself also needs maintenance. The bathroom door would not close properly, paint was peeling from the ceiling, and the bed sheets even had holes in them. Because of this experience, I decided not to stay for the second night. I am extremely disappointed and cannot recommend this hotel.
Stayed at The Washington in NYC and the location alone makes this hotel worth considering. Situated in the heart of the Financial District, you genuinely don't need a car here — everything from Wall Street to the 9/11 Memorial to great restaurants is within walking distance. For anyone visiting Manhattan this kind of central location is hard to beat. The staff was nice throughout the stay and made an effort to accommodate us — when we mentioned not having a microwave in the room they were kind enough to lend us one, which was a nice gesture. No breakfast is included, but that was manageable given how many food options are within walking distance. A few things worth noting before booking: the rooms could use some updating, and there's no microwave or coffee maker provided in-room. The mini fridge is also quite small, only fitting about 3 to 4 drinks. For solo travelers or couples just looking for a place to sleep and explore the city, this works perfectly fine. Families or travelers with kids may find the lack of microwave and small fridge a bit limiting. Overall a solid hotel with an unbeatable location and helpful staff. Just go in knowing the room amenities are basic.
The location of this hotel is excellent, and the lobby is beautiful. There are Citi Bikes directly outside, plus easy access to trains, restaurants, and many NYC attractions. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives mostly end. The guest rooms are in desperate need of renovation. The photos online do not accurately reflect the current condition of the rooms. This isn’t simply about aesthetics, some of the issues felt like potential maintenance and safety concerns. Our bathroom had a persistent sewage smell throughout the stay, there was visible bubbling and swelling in areas that appeared to be caused by water damage, and numerous signs of wear and neglect throughout the room. For the rates being charged, the overall condition was far below what I would expect from a quality hotel. It was a little over $450 for one night, and I simply don’t feel the experience justified that price point. In my opinion, the property is worth closer to a budget hotel rate until significant updates are made. Service was also underwhelming. The hotel charges roughly $50 per hour for late checkout, which felt excessive. They did offer luggage storage for $2 per bag, which seemed reasonable and likely supports the bell staff. Overall, great location and impressive lobby, but once you leave those areas, the experience does not match the price or expectations. I would not stay here again without major room renovations and improvements to the guest experience.
