This hotel is great! Arrived on a hot afternoon, and reception offered water bottles at check in. Room was clean and well appointed - even had a note explaining why the shades were shut (there was construction that I never heard). The Moderne is steps from numerous Broadway theatres, but feels like a hidden oasis. I would 100% stay there again.
The staff were (for the most part) extremely friendly, helpful, and professional. Great location within easy waling distance of Times Square, Rockafeller Center, and Central Park Rooms are very small and starting to get a little dingy. Air conditioning is a very loud window unit. I'd be hard pressed to call this a 4-star hotel. We ended up checking out early and switching to another nearby hotel. The deciding factor was major construction on the adjoining building, which meant your window was looking out onto scaffolding and workers walking by. Due to the scaffolding and recommendation that you leave the curtains closed so workers can't see into your room, there was no natural light. With the window ac unit, we felt like construction dust was coming into the room. Even when the construction is complete, I wouldn't choose to stay there again. You can find similarly priced hotels in the area with larger and more comfortable rooms.
Loved the warm welcome of the doorman and friendly staff. We enjoyed a nice glass of wine with check-in. Cleaning staff was Awesome as well. The location was near stores, restaurants and the subway...and walking distance to Time Square. The rooms were nice, I liked the rain shower especially. Typical size for NYC. Fresh pastries and coffee was available during the morning hours. Construction was going on during our stay. But otherwise we would stay here again.
Everyone at Moderne Hotel was so nice and accommodating. The rooms were also big and clean. What’s nice is that the subway was just 0.1 miles down. Would go back again. Melissa, the supervisor, was very kind and the doorman working with her on 4/23 in the afternoon helped us with our luggage and Uber.
