It's a fine place to stay, in good location and clean. Campy with the vintage posters. Try to get a lower floor. No elevator. They have a cute peaceful patio out back to relax... my room was in need of a few little minor repairs but overall it was decent
I stayed for Memorial Day weekend with 3 friends and booked through Airbnb. I found the apartment quiet and conveniently located. I loved the outdoor space and free coffee. However, we had issues with the room and service; 1) the water in the bathroom sink was not working, and it took them multiple days to fix; 2) on the first afternoon, a maintenance staff member entered our room without permission while we were sleeping and had the DND on the door - it scared us; 3) the bed in one room had a broken frame and sunk in the middle; 4) I reported these concerns to the manager and never received a response. It's cheap - you pay for what you get. Also, heads up that they might not be transparent about your room being on the 5th floor of a building without an elevator.
A very nice, quiet, and clean hotel with lovely staff in a perfect location! The check-in and check-out process were straightforward, and I was able to leave my bag with the staff before and after my stay so I could explore the city without it. My room was on the second floor and overlooked the street, and I didn't have any trouble with the sound. Everything was clean and well-kept. And the staff were so friendly and helpful, greeting me each time I came and left. You can't get much better than this for a budget-friendly price. I'm very glad I stayed here for my first time in the city, and I'd stay here again in a heartbeat!
This is a find for budget conscious travelers. Best of all, the location is 5*. The movie themed hotel is an older building but quite nice, the rooms are clean and quiet (mine overlooked the back patio). The amenities are great (well appointed kitchen in the downstairs common area, cafe-style furniture in the back patio, AC and fan in the rooms, good quality towels and sheets) and the staff attentive. The only unusual feature is the lack of elevator and steep stair cases but the staff will offer to carry your luggage up for you. Overall, I recommend this place for its “budget” price, charm and spectacular location. Not luxurious but well appointed.
Great place for a solo traveler who just needs a small place with a private bathroom! The dormitory style room was cozy and clean and the bathroom was actually larger than some in much pricier NY hotels. The single bed and pillows were perfect and the house staff was friendly. Cute courtyard in the back and a kitchen that is shared. Only cons: there is no elevator and you do hear some street sounds (welcome to NY!) and the room was nothing fancy. Biggest pros are the Chelsea location (market and Whitney nearby) and the very close access to the subway and 14th Ave bus. Zipping around town was a breeze.
